The red meat controversy has been going on for quite some time. Is there any way it could be beneficial, or should you stay far away from it?

A new study published in the journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology of the American Heart Association provides the most recent response.

The study found that eating red meat actually increased the likelihood of developing higher-risk cardiovascular disease.

In other words, most people should limit their consumption of red meat, but this is especially true for those who have cardiac problems.

The risk of CVD was examined among participants who consumed varied amounts of animal-sourced foods such as red meat, processed meat, fish, poultry, and eggs.

Eating more red and processed meat increased the risk of atherosclerotic CVD. That's a 22% increase every 1.1 servings each day.

Additionally, researchers noted that excessive blood sugar & inflammation may contribute to the increased cardiovascular risk associated with red meat consumption.

According to Hembree, CVD remains the leading cause of death among Americans. Therefore, she finds it interesting that nutrition research is evolving in this field.

Overall, you should really limit the consumption of red meat & eat it in moderation.
